Grrrrrrr Go Bears!

Yesterday was a pretty action packed day. The fun started when I went to lunch with my old sorority sisters Jenny and Wincy. I only get to see them once a year (Christmas) but when I do, it's so great to catch up. I miss my sisters and talking to Jenny makes me want to move down to SoCal. Sigh, I just need a job. Then I will go. I promise. Although Jenny does inform me that I can work with her and wear a bubble wrap bra. I always loved themed parties.

After lunch, I took the Bart to watch the Emerald Bowl at AT&T Park. It was my first bowl game ever and I had a lot of fun. Anne even bought me my first Cal sweatshirt. Grrrrr. Go Bears. Here are some pictures. . .

Anne, me and Peggy outside the stadium.

Me pre-funking. The bottles on the floor are NOT mine. I just drank the 1/2 of a Heinie in the huge paper bag.

The view from our seats:

Brrrr so cold. Even a lukewarm hotdog didn't even warm us up.

My night ended with a random yet, eventful experience at Lion Pub. Never a dull night at Lion Pub.

Christmas was fun. We went to my aunt's house and ate prime rib and consumed too much booze for an Asian family. It was nice because I don't get to see a lot of my extended family and it is even rarer to get everyone together in one house.

And now I realize why. My family is loud. My mom is one of seven and everyone lives in either San Francisco or down the Pennisula somewhere. The family is super loud. You know the stereotype of loud Asian families? Well, we totally fit it. Especially when we're boozing. Add in four dogs, things get crazy. However, in all the madness, we are still family and are very close. Along with the shouting and pushing at the food table, there is also a lot of laughter and a lot of warmth.

I really didn't realize how drunk I was until my eyes started to droop at the poker table. Every year, our family has a poker game and every year, I win. This year I was close to breaking my streak due to drunkeness. But I am soldier and I held on. And then I went home and apparently slept in my make up and only half changed into my pjs.
Problem Fixed. Thanks Emily!
I just realized that the only two blogs that I am currently following are Marie's and Anne's. Both of them wedding theme. Oh my.

Yesterday I had a bad start to the day.

I fought with the ticket machine only to find out that it wasn't able to read my card b/c I was inserting it the wrong way. I missed my bus. My earphones broke. I was five minutes late to work. It was cold. And I forgot to put on make up.

Today. Not so bad.

Yummy in My Tummy

One of the highlights of my weekend was going to Range for dinner. [Insert shout-out to Anne for picking out the restaurant and making the reservation.] I got to eat an awesome meal and bond with her bf of approximately 8 years.

Here's what we ate:

Appetizer: Seared scallops with some brown orange sauce. So good. Scallops were seared perfectly. Not too raw but not rubbery.

Anne's bf had the coffee rubbed pork shoulder with creamy hominy and braised greens. I had the slow cooked duck breast with spaetzle, mushrooms, turnips and Parmesan broth. Both dishes were excellent but very different. The pork was a lot heavier and richer while the duck was a lot lighter. I liked them both. I would order both again. Additionally, we each had a glass of a cabernet blend from Old World Winery in Sonoma.

For dessert we had a cranberry ginger upside down cake with rosemary ice cream. I really liked the dessert. It was a perfect blend of sweet and sour and salty. The cake had the semi-hardened exterior with a gooier middle part.

I really liked Range. The food is simple and excellent. The service was good and the atmosphere was comfortable. Not stuff at all. A very good date place. I would come again.

I love food. And apparently food loves me too.

I Want

For the last two years, I've been asking Santa, or Marie for this SF Niners grill shaped like a football. But this year, this is what I want:

Go Niners!

Tired and Restless

I feel tired and restless at the same time. You know that really tired feeling you get when you come back home after working 8 hours? Yea, that feeling. But I'm feeling restless at the same time. I want to go out and do something but I just can't seem to muster the energy to get out of this chair.

I have decided to stop watching the news on T.V. I find it way too depressing. Yes, I know we are in a recession. I know there was a shooting. I know gays and lesbians can't marry. Blah blah. I'm not saying I don't want to be informed. I do. I just find that the TV news shows have nothing but bad news. Constantly. Hearing about the latest shooting and how CA is in a deficit is just not how I want to start my day. Nor is it how I want to spend my dinnertime. I think the better route is just to read the paper or the news on the internet. At least there, you can pick and choose what you want to read. They have non-depressing things on there like the Travel Section, the Wine Section, the Food Section. I can alternate between the shootings, the kidnappings and the season's best Chardonnays.

The Short Bangs Disaster of 2008

As many of you friends might already know, I had a hair disaster a couple of weeks ago (a.k.a. The Short Bangs Disaster of 2008). Against the advice of my stylist/mother, I cut my bangs short. I don't know why but I thought it would be a genius idea. WRONG. I look like a Monkey with bangs.

Since I figured you friends love me regardless of what I look like, I decided to post a picture. Let this be a lesson to any of you who have shorter foreheads like mine. DON'T GET SHORT BANGS. Anyways, here's a picture that my mom took.

And just for the hell of it, here's a picture of Miso after I gave him a noogie. That's how I feel about my haircut. Annoyed.

Black Friday Not So Black

Today is Black Friday. To me, it's ridiculous. No one should really be waking up at 3 in the morning to shop. Also, apparently it's dangerous:

http://www.nytimes.com/2008/11/29/business/29walmart.html?_r=1&hp

So sad. The worker was a temp and people were complaining when they were asked to leave because an employee died. This is probably why everyone says Wal-Mart is evil. Well, not the only reason.

On another note, I went shopping. I bought some make up. I love make up shopping. It's so non-discriminatory. Clothes shopping can make you depressed if you don't fit the size that you think you do. Shoes are great but then you have to think about what you can match with your new shoes. Handbags are usually too expensive. But make up? Make-up is great. It makes you look good whether you feel bloated or rexi. I love it.

Last Time I Swear

So after some deliberation, I decided to move my blog to blogspot. I liked livejournal and all. However, it bothered me that people couldn't leave comments without having to register with livejournal. And that's no fun. So here we are. For all three of you that actually read my blog, I swear, this is the last time I will move my blog. Promise.
